Eurostar Reopens Direct London to Birmingham Train Route
After nearly a year of renovations at Amsterdam’s bustling hub, Eurostar has happily reinstated its direct train line from Amsterdam straight to the heart of London. Since June 2024, passengers were diverted via Brussels, but as of January 10, the high-speed rail link has been back on track with the launch of a swish new UK departure terminal at Amsterdam Centraal.
The Eurostar now runs directly between the two cities, offering passengers a convenient and efficient way to travel between Amsterdam and London. With a commitment to keeping Europe connected, Eurostar boasts three daily weekday and Sunday services to London St Pancras, with two trains on Saturdays. The company has big plans for the future, aiming to increase the service to five daily rides by next year.
Increased Capacity and Passenger Amenities
Each train now accommodates an additional 10 percent in passenger load, welcoming up to 400 globe-trotters per trip. The Amsterdam terminal has also undergone significant improvements to enhance the passenger experience, including a café, comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi, and UK Border Force checks onsite.
Despite these exciting developments, passengers should be aware of a brief service halt from March 30 to April 22 due to platform works in Amsterdam. During this time, the trains will make a temporary detour via Brussels once more, impacting travel in both directions. However, this temporary inconvenience is necessary for the long-term goal of enhancing the train service.
Celebrating the Reconnection
Gwendoline Cazenave, CEO of Eurostar, expressed her delight at the reinstatement of direct Eurostar services between Amsterdam and London. She emphasized that this connection is more than just a train journey; it represents a seamless link between two vibrant capitals, offering passengers an efficient, comfortable, and sustainable way to travel. Eurostar’s state-of-the-art terminal reflects the company’s commitment to providing a seamless and sustainable travel experience for passengers.
Seema Malhotra MP, Minister for Migration and Citizenship, also shared her enthusiasm for the reinstated direct Eurostar connection. She highlighted the importance of working closely with European neighbors to ensure seamless passenger travel while maintaining robust border security. The reinstatement of this direct connection signifies a commitment to facilitating travel between the UK and the Netherlands.
The Eurostar service from St Pancras to Amsterdam Centraal offers a convenient travel option, with a journey time of three hours and 52 minutes. Return tickets start from £86 for standard class, including amenities such as luggage allowance, onboard food and beverages, complimentary Wi-Fi, and plug sockets.
As Eurostar reopens its direct London to Birmingham train route, passengers can once again enjoy the convenience and comfort of high-speed rail travel between these two vibrant cities. With increased capacity, enhanced passenger amenities, and a commitment to sustainability, Eurostar is setting the standard for connectivity across Europe. So, next time you plan a trip to Amsterdam or London, consider hopping on the Eurostar for a seamless and enjoyable journey.
