The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has issued guidance for drivers ahead of planned parades in various areas this weekend. Drivers are advised to expect traffic delays on Saturday, August 10, in Derry City and Strabane, Ards and North Down, Mid and East Antrim, and Lisburn and Castlereagh.
In Derry City and Strabane, the Apprentice Boys of Derry parade will cause traffic disruption in the city center from 9am. Diversions will be in place from 11am, with road closures remaining until the main parade is complete. Drivers should be aware of these closures and plan alternative routes if necessary.
For Mid and East Antrim, parades in Ballyclare, Larne, and Carrickfergus will take place from 7am to 12 noon and then from 5pm to 9pm. Police officers will be present to assist with traffic flow and diversions, but drivers are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid delays.
In Ards and North Down, parades in Newtownards and Ballygowan will also occur from 7am to 12 noon and 5pm to 9pm. Similar to other areas, drivers should consider alternative routes to prevent potential delays.
Lisburn and Castlereagh will experience traffic delays due to parades in Lisburn and Dundonald starting at 7am and ending at 9pm. As with other locations, officers will be on the ground to manage traffic and diversions, but drivers are encouraged to find alternative routes if they are not attending the parades.
Overall, road users are advised to plan their journeys carefully, be aware of the parade schedules, and consider alternative routes to avoid traffic delays. It is important to follow the guidance provided by the PSNI and to cooperate with officers on the ground to ensure a safe and smooth flow of traffic during the planned parades.
