A recent episode of The Chase on ITV left viewers feeling disappointed, with many labeling it as the worst episode ever. The game did not go well for the contestants or the audience, leading to a lackluster conclusion. Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to take on Chaser Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty in hopes of winning a cash prize. However, two of the contestants left empty-handed and the remaining players opted for low offers, much to the viewers’ dismay.
Julia and Georgina ended up in the Final Chase playing for a meager £1,200, with Anne expressing doubt that they could beat her again. As predicted, Anne caught the two players with plenty of time to spare, further frustrating viewers. Many took to social media to express their disappointment, calling it the worst episode they had seen in a long time.
Despite the negative reactions, some viewers found the tension in the episode to be entertaining. Anne Hegerty, known as The Governess, is regarded as the top quizzer on the show, boasting an impressive record of wins. Out of 465 appearances, she has triumphed in 370, leaving challengers with an average prize pot of £4,810 when they do manage to beat her.
In the history of The Chase, contestants have collectively won over £11 million during the final chase out of a potential £38 million. Securing victory in the final chase typically requires answering at least 23 questions correctly, as Chasers are expected to answer a maximum of 22 questions within two minutes. Despite the disappointing episode, The Chase continues to be a popular quiz show with a dedicated fan base.
