The audience at The Alex was thrilled by Robin A. Smith and his band of musicians as they performed a show celebrating 50 years of Tubular Bells. The night began with other works by Mike Oldfield, such as Family Man and Moonlight Shadow, beautifully sung by bassist Lisa Featherston. The stage was filled with talented musicians playing over 20 instruments, including guitars, a cello, and of course, the famous tubular bells. Each musician had their moment in the spotlight, showcasing their incredible talent. The show was exhilarating from start to finish, with the crowd giving two standing ovations and dancing along to the Blue Peter theme. The music, as contemporary and captivating as ever, took the audience on a journey through various genres. Even the journalist’s kids, both guitarists and songwriters, enjoyed the show. Although the Birmingham performance was a one-night-only event, the show will return to the Midlands on November 10 at the Warwick Arts Centre. Tickets can be booked through the Mike Oldfield website. The Tubular Bells tour will continue to various locations, giving more people the opportunity to experience this special performance.
