West Midlands Police officers have taken action in a Birmingham neighborhood where poor parking has been causing issues. After giving residents a final warning earlier this month, officers from South Yardley Police visited Dora Road in Bordesley Green and issued 14 parking tickets. The officers shared images of the poorly parked cars on their patrol through their @YardleyWMP Twitter account. These cars were seen blocking the road and parking outside designated bays.
Just last week, the police had sent letters to residents in Bordesley Green, cautioning them to park properly or face having their vehicles towed. Although the specific road was not mentioned, residents were warned that if dangerous parking continued, their cars could be seized. Despite this warning, the issue persisted, leading to the recent ticketing on Dora Road.
The @YardleyWMP spokesperson expressed frustration at the situation, stating that the tickets were issued due to complaints about dangerous and inconsiderate parking. The hashtag #considerotherpeople and #parkproperly was used to emphasize the importance of parking responsibly.
In addition to issuing tickets, the Bordesley Police have been cracking down on problematic drivers in the area. They recently posted a photo of a Toyota Yaris parked in a way that blocked pedestrian access, highlighting the ongoing concerns. Despite the fines being issued, the desired change in parking behavior has not been achieved.
To address the persistent issue, the neighborhood team sent a letter to every household on the street, outlining the dangers of improper parking, the police’s authority to address such behavior, and the potential consequences. If the situation does not improve and public safety continues to be compromised, the police will resort to seizing vehicles. The council has also been brought in to implement long-term solutions for the parking problems in Bordesley Green.
